Three-Year Grant

St. Louis Story Stitchers Artists Collective: $100,00 (grant of $33,333 per year beginning in 2020)

StitchCast Studio provides discussion-based education programming with artist-mentors and youth-led podcast recordings that incorporate the arts.  Podcasts will focus on the streets, gun violence, and finding solutions to issues that are coming at our youth hard. 

One-Year Grants

Casa de Salud:  $10,000

The mission of Casa de Salud is to facilitate and deliver high quality medical and mental health services for uninsured and underinsured patients, focusing on new immigrants and refugees who face barriers to accessing other sources of care. Specializing in culturally competent care in a patient’s preferred and/or native language, health care services include telehealth sessions, in-clinic appointments, case management and mental health therapy.  Grant funds will be used for General Operating Support.

CHADS:  $10,000

CHADS’ mission is to save young lives by advancing the awareness and prevention of depression and suicide. Partnering with local schools throughout the metro area, CHADS provides suicide prevention education, family support services, and bullying prevention/mentoring services for youth ages 5-25.  It is the only agency in the St. Louis metro area to offer a wraparound menu of evidence-based suicide prevention, social-emotional education, and solution-focused counseling programs.

Grant Funds will be used for General Operating Support.

Dreams Builders 4Equity:  $25,000

Dream Builders 4 Equity (DB4E) believes equitable opportunities are foundational for youth to realize their fullest potential.  They provide at-risk youth with access to a diverse and broad set of assets through mentorship, entrepreneurship, scholarship, and leadership training. Access to these assets provides young people with the necessary skills to succeed academically and professionally and attain ownership in the development of low-income/highly distressed communities.  The Hyde Park Youth-Driven Community 5-Year Development Plan will:

1) Offer a summer academy for at-risk youth to develop leadership skills with mentoring on construction skills in rehabilitating properties

2) Redevelop the Hyde Park neighborhood to build financial equity within a low-income, distressed community.

Grant Funds will be used to support Year 1 of the Hyde Park Project.

Eye Thrive:  $25,000

Eye Thrive’s Mobile Vision Clinic provides free vision screening, glasses and follow-up services so that no child in our community fails to thrive simply because his or her family cannot afford glasses.

Grant funds will be used for General Operating Support.

Girls in the Know:  $25,000

The mission of Girls in the Know is to empower girls to embrace a strong sense of self.

The Empowerment Workshop Series provides pre-teen girls with fact-based, medically accurate information about physical, social, and emotional development and fosters open communication with trusted adults.

Grant funds will be used to support the Empowerment Workshop Series in St. Louis Public Schools.

Join Hands esl:  $25,000

The Dream Path Program provides programming for children and young adults in East St. Louis that supports a pathway out of poverty based on education, mentorship, the pursuit of academic goals and dreams.

Grant Funds will be used for General Operating Support

St. Francis Xavier ID Program:  $14,000

Volunteers are paired with individuals experiencing poverty and homelessness to facilitate access to State IDs and birth certificates so that they may access employment, housing, education, social services and other needed resources.

Grant Funds will support a summer coordinator position and the cost of documents.

St. Louis Metro Market:  $24,000

The Mobile Market grocery store on wheels travels into the heart of food deserts in North and South St. Louis providing residents with access to fresh, healthy and affordable groceries.

Grant Funds will be used for General Operating Support.

The Collective Thread:  $25,000

The Collective Thread trains immigrant women and others in need of vocational training to qualify as industrial sewers ready to move on to paid on-the-job training.

Grant Funds will support personnel costs for sewing classes.
