Tour and Volunteer at Fairground Park

The event at Fairground Park begins with a one-hour walking tour to see the highlights of this historic park’s features and amenities including the Bear Pitts, swimming pool, bridges, and softball fields. The tour is immediately followed by a one-hour Volunteer Outreach trash pickup event. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Supplies will be provided. Guests welcome.

Fairmont Park History

Fairgrounds Park Fairgrounds Park originated in 1856 and from 1876-1958, it underwent several ownerships, renovations and transformations. Since then, the park has faced challenges due to shifting demographics, urban decay and economic hardships, impacting park maintenance and usage. But despite all this, the park has remained a vital green space for the community, hosting local sports events and serving as a gathering place for residents. In 2006 the city of St Louis commissioned a renovation/rejuvenation master plan to re-establish Fairgrounds Park as the Jewel of North St. Louis. The SOS grant is being used to support these efforts.

In March 2025, Great Rivers Greenway broke ground on the north connector section of the Brickline Greenway that traverses north St. Louis and will connect Fairground Park to Midtown adding to the park’s vision of creating vibrant, welcoming and safe spaces for outdoor recreation and connections in the St. Louis community.

Parking and Driving Directions

The main entrance to Fairground Park is located at the intersection of North Grand Boulevard and Natural Bridge Avenue. Enter this address is using a GPS: Fairground Park, 3715 Natural Bridge Road, St Louis MO 63107. Park on the street in angled spaces roughly across from the playground and not far from the gazebo. 

Without GPS: From the GPS address above, go to the roundabout, take the 2nd exit to Vandeventer, and park near the playground.
